Two weeks back I posted a blog on Purple-Rumped Sunbird. Here are few more photographs of the male Purple-Rumped Sunbird hanging from the small thorny shrub taken during the same day. I used 1/320th of second and f/6.3 aperture to capture these birds at ISO 1250. I was using Canon EOS 5D Mark III with my Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L II IS USM and Canon EF 2X III Extender.
This male was quite acrobatic. He was looking under every leaf for caterpillars and spiders. Most of his search was in this upside down position.
I had taken these shots in burst mode and 5 frames per second given by Canon EOS 5D Mark III was quite sufficient to capture most of his actions. Male Purple-rumped Sunbirds have violet patches on the throat and rump which you can see below. For more details on the bird have a look at my earlier blog Purple-Rumped Sunbird.
I am taking a well deserved long vacation next week along with my family. So I will not be blogging next week. See you all week after that.
